Day 3- Sharing God’s Story
Discover: When we think about the Bible, we tend to see it as this collection of stories written to explain the reason for Christianity. But that’s not at all the reason we have the word of God. The word, breathed out by our Heavenly Father, is truly one unified narrative that reveals God’s plan for humanity. From Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, we see this overarching purpose to how God plans to redeem his creation. We see this in Acts 17, where we are reminded that God is the Creator of everything and that He desires to have a relationship with us. So, knowing this, we then understand the impact it can have on someone’s life when they are approached with God’s story. In Psalm 96, we read about our God who is calling us to declare His glory among all the nations. God is calling us to share His story with His people, a story that is full of redemption. So why is sharing God’s story important? Because the Bible teaches us that through God’s redemptive work, there is to be a new Heaven and a new Earth. Revelation 21 gives us a glimpse of what the ultimate restoration that God promised will look like. The author writes that a new heaven and a new earth will exist where God will dwell with His people forever. We share God’s story so that we can live rightly with our Heavenly Father in eternity.
Learn: The Bible tells of God’s story through the creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. We begin by seeing the work of God through his creation, forming the earth into what we know of it today. We then continue by seeing the fall of humanity that resulted in separation between God and us, His people. But fear no more, a Messiah is here! Through His Son Jesus Christ, is revealed to us God’s plan to redeem us into His Kingdom, where the promise of a new creation can still exist that shows no sin nor death. God’s Story is the greatest love note ever written! It is a story that gives our lives meaning. A story that offers us a chance at hope and a future. When we understand God’s story, we understand the impact it can have, not just in our own lives, but in the lives of the people around us. So share it, and invite others to be a part of one of the greatest love stories ever written!
Apply: Through the rest of this week, think of ways to share God’s story with someone. Maybe start with sharing how God has impacted your life. When you share God’s story, think of the ways it has changed you. Then finally, spend time thanking God for His incredible story of redemption and restoration. That, while we were all sinners living in darkness, He saved us by sending His one and only Son to die a death only we deserved.
· How does knowing that the Bible is one unified story of God’s plan for humanity change the way you view your own life and purpose?
· In what ways has understanding God’s story given you a sense of hope and direction in your own life?
· How are each act (Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration) seen throughout the Bible and in your life?
· How is knowing God’s story important for us to fully understand our story?
