Healing From Domestic Abuseনমুনা
Bring Your Hurt and Pain Before the Lord
Focus: God's healing power can help you when others have wronged you.
Scripture: If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, (Psalm 55:12-13)
Healing from Deep Wounds
At some point, we all have been hurt by a friend, family member, or someone close to us. Domestic violence or intimate partner violence can hit deeper because that pain involves abuse. It's one thing to face opposition from those we know are against us, but it's entirely different when the hurt comes from someone we trusted—someone we loved and believed in. The wounds inflicted by domestic violence can cut deeply, leaving scars that seem impossible to heal.
The Bible speaks to this kind of pain. Psalm 55:12-13 reveals the anguish of betrayal: "If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend." This verse captures the heartache of being wounded by someone close to us, someone we never expected to cause us harm.
Have you ever found yourself in a similar place? Maybe the pain was so deep that it felt as if you could never recover. Perhaps it left you questioning everything—your relationships, trust, and faith. These wounds are not easy to bring before the Lord, but that is precisely what He wants us to do. He wants to meet us directly with His transformative healing power. This power has the ability to cover every hurt, wound, and pain with His everlasting love.
Overcoming the Desire to Hide
When someone we love and trust hurts us, the pain can be overwhelming. It's natural to want to hide that pain, to bury it deep within us and try to move on. But God invites us to bring our hurt before Him, to lay it at His feet, and allow Him to begin the work of healing. Psalm 55 reminds us that even when those closest to us cause us pain, God is still with us, ready to heal our wounds. He has always been with us.
Remember, God's healing power is available to you, and He can help you find peace, even in the face of deep betrayal.
Questions:
- What past hurts do you need to bring before the Lord?
- In what ways is God calling you to trust His healing in this season?
Challenge: Identify those who have hurt you and bring them before the Lord. Ask God for His help, strength, and guidance as you pray through past hurts and pains.

About this Plan
Domestic violence is the systematic way one person tries to gain power and control over another person physically, emotionally, sexually, spiritually, economically, or psychologically. It is not God's desire for human beings to interact with one another in this way. Instead, God calls everyone to love each other, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
