DAY 8 OF 9

Insufficient answers

So often, we want to see God. In Isaiah 6:5, the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two, he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the doorposts were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. What happened when Isaiah saw this vision? He cried out: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” When he saw God, he immediately saw his sin - like Job. In Revelation 1:10-17 the apostle John saw a vision of Jesus. It was so overwhelming that he said, "When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead."

We want to see angels. In Daniel 8:17, Daniel saw the angel Gabriel, and he was so afraid that he fell on his face. In Daniel 10:15, he saw Gabriel again and said, "I turned his face to the ground and was speechless." The apostle John had similar encounters with angels in the Book of Revelation - the sight of angels had the same effect on him.

What is the significance of these stories about the sightings of angels and visions of Jesus and God? If we cannot even stand up straight in the glorious presence of God, how will we even be able to ask Him questions and challenge the works of His hands and His decisions? Through the ages, this was the reaction of people when they saw a vision of God or an angel: they became speechless, and they fell at their feet as dead. Some people worshipped, but others were so overwhelmed that they couldn’t do that. In Isaiah 55:8-9 we read: For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

The presence of God will “answer” many of your questions. God is infinitely bigger than our limitedness.
