Calm in the Chaos - Finding Peace Amidst the Storms of Lifeনমুনা
Calm in Creation
Imagine a world with no stress, confusion, sadness, or disappointments. Hard to do, right? However, this world did exist once upon a time. In the beginning, God created…and it was good. Very good. It was perfect and peaceful. Free from chaos and confusion. Then, entered sin. Even though we were made to be in harmony with God, we are now affected by the sin that entered the world. So, when we are experiencing stress, we can ask ourselves, “What is taking me away from that perfect order created in the beginning?” Is it chaos that pulls us away from harmony with our Creator? Is it our own sin that causes us to feel guilt and hide in shame? Is it deception from others who are far from God?
God wants you to experience peace and deliver you from these things. Remember, in the beginning, God created…and it was good. Very good. Even then, He knew you and would create you in the moment and time He did. So, when you are experiencing chaos, remember you were made to desire peace with Him, so you are seeking unity with your Creator. Seek Him, lean into His creation, and listen to the perfect harmony of the natural world instead of being pulled into the noise of the man-made world that surrounds us.
How does one do this? Just like the Psalmist David, the blameless and upright Job, the patriarch Abraham, the disciples of the New Testament, and even Jesus Himself…they all got alone in creation with the Heavenly Father so they could steal away from the noise of the world and come back to peace. Thus, so should we.
Reflection
- What distractions are keeping you from having harmony with the Creator? Ask God to reveal any barriers that are keeping you from His peace.
- We see evidence of God’s perfect order all around us: in the sun, moon, mountains, seas, and more. In what ways do you need to mirror this order in your daily life? Be intentional about asking God to help you claim order in areas of your life.
- To what part of nature are you most drawn? Set aside time to spend with your Creator just listening to Him in nature.
