Noah's Example in a Corrupt World
"But Noah found favour in the eyes of the LORD”.
When God created humanity, He made us in His likeness. But as we increased in number, God could not tolerate our wickedness. God's description of humanity was dire:
- How great the wickedness of the human race on the Earth had become.
- Every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
- The Earth was corrupt in God’s sight.
- The Earth was filled with violence.
- All the people on Earth had corrupted their ways.
The Lord regretted having created human beings on Earth, and His heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said He would wipe the human race from the face of the Earth.
But about Noah:
- Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord.
- Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time.
- Noah was found righteous in his generation.
- He walked with God.
- Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
We should ask ourselves: how does God perceive us? Are our actions and thoughts consistently righteous or evil in His eyes? Through self-examination, we can resolve to:
- Not entertain or have thoughts or actions that would grieve our God.
- Keep ourselves away from violence.
- Be careful that our ways are not corrupt.
- Decide to always walk with God.
- Do everything strictly as God commands us to do.
- Seek favour in the eyes of the Lord.
Prayer: Merciful Father, guide me to walk with You as Noah did, dedicating time each day for prayer and meditation on Your word. Grant me favour and a good reputation in Your sight all the days of my life.
