Before the End Comes
When the disciples asked Jesus what the sign of His coming and the end of the world would be, He told them to beware of deceivers and of those who claim to be Christ. He said that they would hear of wars, earthquakes, and pestilence; that some of them would be hated and even killed for His name’s sake; that there would be false prophets; and that the love of many would wax cold because of abounding iniquity.
Then, after all those signs, Jesus gave the disciples the main sign of His coming: The gospel of God’s kingdom would be preached throughout the world for a witness to all nations, and then the end would come.
When over half of the world’s population has not yet heard Christ’s message nor received a single page of the gospel in their language, we cannot say that this sign has been fulfilled. Making the gospel known to all nations should be the priority of every Christian believer. The ripe harvest of millions of souls will be swept into darkness unless Christians respond quickly.
Our mission is to share the Good News with our hurting world—to give them an opportunity to know about Christ and His love for them. Why should anyone hear the gospel repeatedly before everyone has heard it once? The supreme task of the Church is the evangelization of the world. That was Christ’s final commission to His followers—the purpose for which He sent the power of His Holy Spirit into their lives.
I have already dedicated over six decades of my life to proclaim this gospel, and I shall continue doing so as long as I live and am capable of action. For years, we published more than a ton of gospel literature every day, in 132 languages, and shipped them to Christian workers around the world. We sponsored over 30,000 national preachers as full-time missionaries to unevangelized tribes and villages. For many years, more than 400 new self-supporting churches have been established annually. We provided millions of books and audio and video materials in 70 major languages and continued our own mass miracle campaigns. Why? Our mission is to reach the world with this gospel of the kingdom that Jesus taught.
Jesus, You charged Your disciples with the task of proclaiming the good news to all people. Use me to encourage others to receive Your salvation, Your healing, Your love, and Your Spirit.
