Use Your Gifts
We learned yesterday that opening yourself up to the Christian community is an important part of moving forward in your faith journey. Serving can be a way you can grow in community while using the gifts that God has given you. Did you know that God has given you specific gifts that He wants you to use for His glory? He gives all of us different gifts which are best used when they all come together! It’s like a human body. All the parts of our body serve different purposes so the body as a whole can stay healthy and live at its fullest.
God uniquely created you with gifts that He needs you to use to further His kingdom. When we accept Jesus, it becomes a partnership with Him. He equips us with gifts and then we get to use those gifts to further His kingdom. We get to offer God’s grace to others in this way.
So how do you know what gifts God has given you? First, identify some areas where you feel God has given you natural talents. Maybe he has given you a creative mind or an athletic skill set. Maybe you feel naturally good at teaching or working with your hands to build things. Oftentimes, God will take those talents He has already created within you to become the vehicle through which your spiritual gifts are developed.
Second, ask God to show you a place where He can use those gifts to serve someone. If you’re unsure where to start, ask someone close to you what giftings they see in you. Often those close to us can see the ways we are gifted even better than we can sometimes see ourselves.
Reflection
What is one specific gift you feel God has uniquely given you to serve others? How does that align with the needs you see in front of you and in your church? Pray and ask God to allow you to serve others with the gifts He has given you.
