7 Days in His Presenceনমুনা
Your Treasure
Have you ever watched a little child work tirelessly on an elaborate sandcastle? Typically, they are unaware of the patterns of ocean waves and don’t realize that as the day passes, their masterpieces will eventually be swept away by the swelling tide. All that work, all that concentration, all that pride gone as the water creeps further up the shore.
Scripture is clear that there are some things in life that will not stand the test of time. Truly, not everything is eternal. No matter how important we think they are, not all the castles we build will remain at the end of the age. We need to pay attention to what will last and what won’t. Our time and energy are meant to be given to a Kingdom that will never pass away.
It would be easy to think about fading treasures and worry that what you are doing with your life isn’t good enough. Scripture that references Heaven’s Rewards isn’t meant to be condemning or shame-inducing. God is not a tyrant, shaking His Finger at you while scolding you for wasting your time. Rather, He is a Merciful Father who desires that you would find the True and Eternal Satisfaction in His Kingdom.
If you let God guide your investments, you won’t be left wanting. Spend your time investing in the souls of people, in the Eternal Vision of advancing God’s Kingdom, and in the never-ending Truth of the Gospel. In these things, you will find Purpose and Treasure that will never be lost. When you store up Treasures in Heaven, you’ll reap rewards for Eternity.
If you allow Him to, God will be faithful to show what really matters. Don’t be overwhelmed by the weight of making the right decisions. Seek to be led by the Spirit and trust that He will not steer you the wrong way. As you follow Him, He will give you discernment and the ability to make wise decisions about how you spend your time, emotions, and resources. As you surrender to His ways, He will faithfully ensure that you are not pursuing treasures that will fade away. Trust His Leadership and remember that He will keep all His Promises.
