Israel and the Churchনমুনা

Day 6 – We have not replaced Israel
For a long time, Christians have claimed that the Church had taken the place of Israel as God's people. God's covenants and promises supposedly passed from Israel to the Christian Church.
This idea is called 'replacement theology’. According to this view, Israel and the Jewish people have no significance anymore.
This is a strange idea since it does not say anywhere in the Bible that God has broken His covenant. It also does not fit with the Biblical message that God is always faithful. Replacement theology has damaged the relationship between Jews and Christians and by holding this doctrine, we as the Church have actually driven the Jews further away from Jesus.
The Church, as you have discovered in this reading plan, is intimately connected to Israel. God always remains faithful to what He has promised. That applies both to Israel and to the Church. So let us thank and worship God for His everlasting love and faithfulness.
Something to think about: How can we right the wrongs of replacement theology?
