Resurrection – Day 5

The resurrection of Jesus is the greatest reason to celebrate! But “Good” Friday probably felt anything but, and Saturday may have been worse. The disciples and followers of Jesus perhaps felt abandoned, the doubts probably crept in, the fear, the wondering. Sometimes our own life feels like a Saturday season. We wonder at God’s silence. We have doubts, fears, worries. Or maybe we just feel distant from God.

But even when we sit in such a season, we can still celebrate the gift given to us when Jesus rose from the grave. His resurrection was not a one-time celebratory moment, but rather an ongoing gift of hope and joy that is worth celebrating even when our circumstances would tell us otherwise. The hope that came that first Easter is the same hope we celebrate when we cry out “He is Risen!”
