Life & Teachings of Jesus - Day 30
If you knew you would die tomorrow, what would you do with your last 24 hours? Run a bunch of errands? Lecture your family on how to keep a weed-free lawn? Make a list of the songs you expect at your funeral? No, Jesus didn’t do that either.
Lecture, liturgy, and ceremony have their place. We need to read God’s Word, learn about how he wants us to live, and spend time in prayer and worship. But God wants a relationship with us. On the night before he died, Jesus showed personal care for his disciples by washing their feet. He talked with them about the Passover meal and what his coming death would mean. And he enjoyed their company. He died and rose from the grave to enjoy your company as well.
