How to Date with Intention and Have Fun
Matthew 19:6
“‘So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.’”
Dating with intention is about being purposeful and clear about your dating goals. It's about knowing what you want, setting boundaries, being honest, and praying about your relationship. By doing so, you not only avoid wasted time and heartbreak but also strengthen your faith and lay the groundwork for a fulfilling relationship.
If you think it sounds pretty serious, that’s because it is! Dating leads to marriage, and marriage is so sacred — it’s two people becoming one! So, it only makes sense that we treat dating in a sacred way, too. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the process.
Here are a few ways to have fun while dating and still be true to yourself and honor God by dating with intention:
- Go on Fun Dates: Ditch the boring dinner and movie date and choose something more interactive. Consider going to an amusement park, exploring a local festival, or trying something new, like a cooking class. These activities are not only fun but also allow you to see how you both handle new experiences and challenges together.
- Keep It Light: Balance out serious conversations with lighthearted ones by sharing funny stories from your past, discussing your favorite movies or books, or playing question games that prompt silly or imaginative answers. This will help you both enjoy the moment without feeling overwhelmed by the gravity of future expectations.
- Go Out in a Group: Group dates aren’t lame; they can actually be more fun than one-on-one dates sometimes. Make sure you both have friends there, making you feel more comfortable and relaxed. In that environment, you really get to see the other person’s personality shine.
- Plan Adventure Days: Step out of your comfort zones together with some adventure-filled dates. This could be hiking in a place you've never been before, trying out zip-lining, or even booking a day trip to explore a nearby town. Adventures are memorable and create unique bonding experiences. Plus, they offer plenty of opportunities for laughter and lighthearted moments, all while discovering new aspects of each other's personalities.
Remember, dating with intention while having fun is all about cultivating a meaningful connection that aligns with your values and faith. By enjoying these shared experiences and moments of joy, you're not only building a foundation for a potential future together but also honoring God by cherishing and respecting the sacred journey toward marriage.
