The "Legal" Impersonation

“For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” - Hebrews 4:15-16 KJV

In Genesis 27, we see the story of how Jacob and Rebecca deceived Isaac by pretending to be Esau, thereby receiving the blessing meant for the firstborn, Esau. This is a close prototype of what Jesus did when He bore our sins and took the punishment upon Himself. God put our sins on Jesus and gave us His righteousness. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" - 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Such that now when we come before the Father, all He sees is our true identity, Jesus. “As He is, so are we" - 1 John 4:17 KJV. It's crucial not to lose sight of this identity because it's how we receive from our Heavenly Father.

In Exodus 2, we see the story of Moses, raised as a Hebrew Israelite but amidst Egyptian society. Despite his upbringing in Egyptian culture, Moses remained connected to his Hebrew roots, as seen when he intervened to protect his fellow Hebrews from mistreatment by an Egyptian. This tension between his dual identities as an Egyptian prince and a Hebrew Israelite foreshadowed his later role as a deliverer and leader of the Israelites.

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.” - Hebrews 11:24-26 KJV

Similarly, as believers, we sometimes wrestle with the tension between our identity in Christ and the pressures of the world around us. We cannot fully embrace God's calling and purpose for our lives if we are constantly conforming to the values and patterns of the world. Just as Moses could not fulfill his destiny as a deliverer while conforming to Egyptian culture, we cannot effectively carry out God's assignments if we are entangled in worldly pursuits and ideologies. Our true identity lies in our relationship with God through Christ, and it is only by aligning ourselves with His truth and adequately receiving His love that we can fulfill our purpose and make a meaningful impact in the world.

Nothing dies in my hands

I am never stranded

The supernatural is natural to me

All things are working together for good to those who love God

God loves me more than the devil hates me

Grace is working for me.
