Sonship - Understanding the Believer's Identity in Christনমুনা
The Enactment of Sonship
Sonship is not just a status but a reality to be lived out daily. Understanding the enactment of sonship empowers believers to walk confidently in their identity and inheritance.
'“Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust, and believe in me also. My Father’s house has many dwelling places. If it were otherwise, I would tell you plainly, because I go to prepare a place for you. And when everything is ready, I will come back and take you to myself so that you will be where I am. And you already know the way to the place where I’m going.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we don’t know where you’re going, so how could we know the way there?” Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the father except through union with me. To know me is to know my father too.'-John 14:1-6 TPT
The purpose of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is to reconcile humans with God and restore them to his original plan of making them in his image and giving them dominion over all things. In other words, God wanted us to be as he is and have dominion as he does.
To bring about this reconciliation, God himself became a man that men may become as God. God gave us himself in the form of his Son: Christ Jesus, the very image of whom he created us.'He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. '- Colossians 1:15 NKJV
The Son came to earth in the form of a man, born as a child in a manger. He lived amongst men, took their sins upon himself, and died for the sins of all men. After his death, the Son resurrected in righteousness, and ascended to heaven, now in the form of a man, righteous and free from all sin. He gave man access to heaven by becoming the first man to ascend to heaven as a Son. In heaven, he was accepted in the beloved and is seated at the right hand of the Father, above all principality, power, and dominion (Eph. 1:20-21). This reconciliation was sealed with the release of the Holy Spirit who gives us access to our inheritance in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:5).
Because of this reconciliation, we are no longer foreigners or guests, but rather we are the children of the city of the holy ones, with all the rights as family members of the household of God.-Ephesians 2:19 TPT
We are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus -Galatians 3:26 NKJV.
We are Sons, as Jesus is!
About this Plan
The position of a believer is that of Sonship. As Sons of God, we have been given access to everything in heaven and on earth. Every believer has been accepted into the beloved. This 4-day plan explains the sonship that we have received through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
