What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say: Truth From God's Word for Any Situationনমুনা
LIfe-Giving Words for the Uncertain
Career paths. Dating options. Even endless food options in the grocery store... Life, on a daily basis, is simply full of choices—decisions to make, both large and small. How do we know where to go and what to do?
Some of us just like to fly by the seat of our pants, going in whatever direction feels right in the moment. Others of us like to calculate with more precision, ensuring a sound and well-researched path. Emotions, logic, or some blend of the two seem to lead most of the people on this planet as they search for their best path.
But God’s people are different. Though we are all like sheep, we don’t have to wander, wondering if we’re doing the right thing. Unlike the lost, we follow a faithful and wise Shepherd, Jesus. And if we take the time, we can learn to hear His Voice so we can go where He is leading.
So, what can we do when people approach us for direction or advice?
While we may be tempted to offer our own opinion or gut reaction, we’d do much better to confer with our Creator. God promises that when we acknowledge Him with our wonderings about both the big and the small things, He will not just show us the Way of Wisdom—He’ll lead us in it.
I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge, and with all kinds of skills. EXODUS 31:3 NIV
I’m praying that God will fill you with all the creativity and wisdom you need for work and life today!
Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength. 1 CORINTHIANS 1:24–25
Don’t worry. Our weaknesses make the most spectacular backdrop to showcase God’s Power.
The LORD is my shepherd; I have what I need. PSALM 23:1
When we’re worried that one wrong move will ruin our lives, we’ve lost sight of the truth. We never lack anything when we’re with Jesus.
There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. PROVERBS 21:30 NIV
Don’t worry. God always wins!
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. JAMES 1:5 NIV
God won’t judge you for not knowing what to do. He’ll gladly give you the Light you need for your next step—if you’ll ask.
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. JAMES 1:6 NIV
Don’t second-guess yourself when you are following what God has shown you in His Word. Keep trusting Him to either straighten or redirect your path as you proceed in faith.
