Service as an Expression of Worshipনমুনা
Against the Flow
When God created human beings, He instilled in them the desire to rule the earth. However, what happens when this desire to rule becomes corrupted, and we are unable to rule according to God's plan for creation? We can become prone to the temptation of wanting to be kings over others, to build our own empires, and to elevate ourselves above others. We may mistakenly believe this is how we govern because we are in a position of leadership and power.
We believe that status is more important than personal connections, and we focus on winning rather than accomplishing our goals. We see ourselves as influencers within the government and often act like we have god-like power over others due to our superiority in knowledge, relationships, and authority.
According to the 15th chapter of John, when someone talks about being a part of something greater than themselves and serving with the intention of adding value so that everyone benefits, they are referring to using power in a pure way so that everyone can benefit and that the results will glorify God, not a worldly king. This type of service represents a completely different form of government.
It is possible that the politicians of the current era are those who hold power and make important decisions in the world. These individuals may have gained influence due to their economic resources or strategic abilities to assert their authority over others, even if they have exploited our beliefs to use us or manipulate us for their benefit.
We should not let challenges discourage us. Instead, we must recognize the effectiveness and impact of God's will. To gain a better perspective, we need to ask ourselves some essential questions such as: Who has significantly influenced our lives? What qualities or actions led them to have such an impact? Was it their wealth, status, or authoritative position, or their love, generosity, compassion, and unwavering kindness that touched our hearts? I believe their genuine ability to make us feel valued and important earned them the right to inspire us and be a source of authority in our lives.
We acknowledge that there is an unjust system in place. However, a person guided by the Holy Spirit can make a more powerful impact on the life of someone they care about. Kindness and humility have the genuine ability to bring about significant change. Eventually, people will be convinced by evidence rather than images or speeches, especially those who have seen the power of putting Jesus's message into practice. So, don't lose heart in serving God with all your heart.
