The Lie the Devil Will Tell You Today
Have you ever seen a mirage in a desert? A mirage looks wonderful, hopeful, and pleasurable, but it’s not real. Temptation is like a mirage. It will promise you the moon and stars but it deceives you. The enemy uses temptation to trap you, to destroy your purpose & destiny in God. I always enjoyed using mouse traps as a child. The mouse trap has a bait to attract the creature. The bait leads you to a trap and eventually kills you. The bait of Satan is temptation; it traps people in sin which kills you and aborts your God given future.
The enemy is not after your relationships, money or your wealth but He is after your Identity and Purpose! He hates and trembles when a child of God discovers their true self and steps out to accomplish a heaven ordained mission. Remember Jesus in the wilderness? Right after heaven was opened, and Jesus was introduced as the ‘Son of God’, launched into public ministry, the devil came and challenged his Identity. He tempted Jesus to deviate him from the very thing that Jesus had come to fulfill on earth. Satan promised pleasure, power and fame but Jesus stayed focused on heaven’s assignment. Christ knew where He had come from and what He had come for! Today, like Jesus, will you stay focused on who you really are and what you are called for? Because heaven is behind you and Holy Spirit will help you to overcome evil.
Whenever you are tempted, speak to one of your spiritual leaders or a friend: Seek help! Keep yourself accountable. Temptation is common to all man, irrespective of titles, spirituality and positions. The same battle you face, your leaders also face and they can help you. Watch how a lion kills a deer. First it disturbs the flock and isolates one and gets it alone. When you’re isolated in your journey, you are weak, vulnerable and it’s easier for the enemy to get you. This is what the devil wants. He wants to isolate you by lying to you: you’re the only one going through this, what if others misunderstand me? I feel ashamed, what if they judge me? This is not true. Seek help and never face your temptation alone. The purpose of temptation is to distract you from your purpose. Stay focused today!
