Getting Closer to Godনমুনা
Begin the day with the oldest message
What's the very first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Ah, I'd love to hear your answer.
To be honest, I quickly glance at my phone. Most of the time I have it in my hand anyway to turn off the alarm, and then I can see all the messages that came in overnight.
Why are we in such a hurry to read them right away, right now, or to listen to the voice messages? You do realize they've probably been on your phone all night and the world hasn't ended yet, even though you haven't listened to them, right?
So they might actually stay where they are for a little while longer, and in the meantime you might seek God where you are.
If you feel like the world is coming to an end, it's high time to seek God first in the morning.
"How do I go about seeking God?" you might ask yourself. It's quite simple.. When you get a message, you read it, right? God also sent you a message that you could read—in the Bible. It says:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16 NIV)
Wow. Isn't that what you want to start your day with? Nowadays, that would be called empowerment. But God has always been ahead of us :-).
And then, what do you do after you receive a message? That's right, you reply. That's exactly how it works with God. Early in the morning, before you do anything else, let Him speak to you for a moment. And then reply. Talk with Him in a prayer.
Are you aware that your prayer can change how you will feel today?
Consciously begin the coming days differently. Before you read the new messages on your phone, reach for the oldest message you have received! God’s Word. Because God wants to offer you His help before you encounter problems.
You are a miracle!
