LIVING WITH MONEY PROBLEMS
"Money is the root of all evil." You've heard that before. Actually, that's a misquote of 1 Timothy 6:10, which says, "The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." Money in and of itself is a wonderful tool for getting things done. It is portable power. It is the lubricant of all human transactions. It works far better than livestock as a way to exchange goods and save for the future.
Money makes a great servant, but it is a terrible master. Jesus told both his disciples and the money-loving Pharisees, "You cannot serve both God and Money" (Luke 16:13). Next to sex, I think Satan's most reliable attack point in the human heart involves money in some way. How would you feel if God said to you directly: "All right--make a choice. It's either your money or me." What would you do?
