A Prayer

Dear and wondrous God,

Your words warn and challenge us about where this world is going. Our generation is corrupt. This corruption is infiltrating your church - your ‘bride.’ We take your word in part, but not as a whole. For this we are sorry and ask you to forgive our selectiveness. We want your whole word, shared through the whole church, to the whole world. We want to truly hear your words of love, mercy, and grace - your word became flesh - and so be saved. Create devoted lives within us that we might truly love your words and your chosen ones. We pray that we might break bread together and rebuild relationships, and that we might pray, for this delights you Lord. Heavenly Father, we want you to delight over your people - your church - today. Amen.

Journal Exercise

Jesus is the risen Lord who laid down his life in service for us. The implications for believers are that we will be raised from death, and that our lives will be lives of service. Can you think of one area where you need to change your lifestyle? Write a prayer that reverently brings this area before our crucified Lord of Glory.

Since our life is to be a life of service, ask God to show you what structures of society we need to reach with new Christian fellowships. Write a prayer mentioning two of these and pray that God will show you how these might be reached.

A Challenging Prayer

Pray that God’s people, in submission to the Lord Jesus Christ and his command to make disciples of all nations, will be challenged to reform the life of the Church by creating fellowships throughout every strata of our villages, towns and cities.
