Inside the Tomb: A Holy Week Devotional

DAY 6 OF 8

DAY 6: GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday is a day of solemn reflection on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It's a pivotal moment in our faith, where God's love and justice meet at the cross. Jesus, innocent and without sin, takes upon Himself the weight of the world's sin, offering up His life as the ultimate sacrifice for our redemption.
The events of Good Friday, from Jesus' agonizing prayers in Gethsemane to His final words on the cross, reveal the depth of His love and commitment to humanity. It's a love that endures betrayal, abandonment, and unimaginable pain. In His cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" we glimpse the profound mystery of the cross: God incarnate, experiencing the depths of human despair and separation for our sake.
Good Friday invites us to meditate on the cost of our salvation and the boundless love of God. It's a time to confront the darkness within us and around us, recognizing our complicity in the sins that nailed Jesus to the cross. Yet, even in this darkness, we find hope. For the cross is not the end, but the pathway to resurrection and new life.
As we observe this solemn day, let's draw near to the cross, repentant and grateful, allowing the story of Jesus' passion to transform us. Let's embrace the sacrificial love of Christ, committing to live in a way that honors His sacrifice and reflects His love to the world.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. In what ways does the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross impact my understanding of love and forgiveness?

2. How can I live in response to Jesus' sacrificial love, especially in my relationships and interactions with others?
