Grace College Holy Week

DAY 5 OF 7

Maundy Thursday

One of my favorite things that Paul writes is, “For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do” (Romans 7:15). When I first became a Christian, I often felt an overwhelming sense of guilt when I did not share the gospel with every single person around me. Sometimes I would struggle to love those around me, or I would say something that I would be convicted about later. You have probably felt the same way at times. It feels like we are failing Christ or betraying him in these moments.

The beauty of this story is that Christ is still faithful in those moments. We see in this passage that those around Christ desert him and even deny him. Christ is a king who knows what we struggle with and is filled with mercy and grace. So as you enter into today thank God for who he is. The Thursday of Holy Week is called Maundy Thursday. It’s a strange word to us, but it refers to Jesus ceremonially washing the disciples’ feet. Now you don't have to just start washing people's feet today, but as you enter into today, our aim is to serve someone even if they are hard to love at times. Consider doing the dishes, taking out the trash, or buying someone's dinner or coffee. Even serving in little ways goes a long way.

About this Plan

Grace College Holy Week

Join us as we seek to engage in Holy Week in a more meaningful way. These devotionals will have verses associated with what Christ did each day leading up to the crucifixion. As well as ways that you can personally reflect and act on what you have read.
