In the Garden With Jesus - a Lent Journey for Teens

DAY 29 OF 39

The prayer vibe in Gethsemane was all about surrender. Jesus was like, "Yo, take this cup away from me, but okay, if you're not feeling that, then cool, let your will happen, not mine." Plot twist – the cup didn't magically disappear. Jesus felt the weight of an unanswered prayer. He really hoped the cup would vanish, and He straight-up asked for it.

He hit God with that "If you're down for it" question. Like, "Can we find another way to save people?" But nope, Jesus carried the heavy load of that unanswered prayer for our sins.

Ever been in a situation where your prayer feels like it's hitting a brick wall, and you're left wondering if God's on mute or you're praying wrong? Jesus felt that too at Gethsemane. He didn't get what He wanted, but guess what? The most epic salvation move in human history went down when he surrendered to the Father's plan.

It's all about that surrender flow. "My way or the highway" gets replaced by "Your Kingdom come, not mine." It's like saying, "Let go of my kingdom." Gethsemane School teaches us that our plans, our path, our stuff – it's gotta take a backseat to a higher authority. And here's the kicker: that prayer that feels like it's floating in the unanswered zone? Turns out, it might just be the sneak peek to the best answer ever.

Exercise:

Ask Jesus to make you aware of His will and the grace to let go of your will.

Prayer:

I ask for an awareness of Your work in my life.

About this Plan

In the Garden With Jesus - a Lent Journey for Teens

You are invited to a Lent journey where we will spend 40 days with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane - the place where He was extremely vulnerable and open to the Father’s will. Here, He shows us a glimpse of His courage to wrestle with His humanity.
