I'm Here, Lord: Devotions From Time of Graceনমুনা
Hungry to learn
All educators will tell you that it’s never too late to learn. They love growing in knowledge and want to encourage people of all ages to adopt the posture of being lifelong learners.
This is true of the Bible as well. Perhaps you weren’t blessed with a Christian school or Sunday school in your past, and other children got so far ahead of you that you gave up. It’s never too late. I don’t care what your age might be—cultivate a hunger for the Word and let God speak to you. “Show me your ways, Lord; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long” (Psalm 25:4,5).
Don’t set unrealistic expectations. Some sections are difficult and will take some work. Some things will come to you over time. Some things you may never understand. But the more you read, the more comfortable you will get with the powerful content in every chapter. Find a good teacher and soak in whatever you can. Find a home group and study together with other people . . . or form a home group of your own. Take advantage of your church’s study opportunities.
The clearer your understanding of the Word, the stronger your faith will be. You will pick up on Satan’s lies more quickly; you can reject his temptations and avoid his traps with the same powerful armor Jesus himself used: “This is what the Lord says . . .”
Say it with me: “I’m hungry, Lord. Speak to me.”
