Connect 21 - Prayer + Fasting - Reaching Results

DAY 20 OF 21

Day 20 | The Lord Is Looking for You

There is no one greater on whom we can depend than God. We are children of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus. In this walk of life, we can lose sight of who we are and whose we are, so much so that we begin to put more emphasis on what we can get from the world rather than focusing on what God has already provided. Some of us rely on our skills and personalities, while others rely on their education or the government to help them. Finally, when we have exhausted all of our resources in the natural, we turn back to God.

Have you ever had a friend who was loyal? A person on whom you could depend in the good and the bad times. The children of Israel started off well under the reign of King Asa. They were obedient and worshipped God, and God prospered them. When the Israelites' way of life was threatened, King Asa didn’t go to God for help; he sought advice from a pagan king. He disregarded all the time that God had proven Himself to be faithful and true.

Before we judge King Asa too harshly, we should examine our own lives. How many times has God made a way for us? How many times has He provided for us? For some, how many times has God healed us? We have the truth of God’s Word in our faces; we have our personal testimonies and even the testimonies of others that consistently show God as a healer, deliverer, Defender, source, and supply! We also have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to teach us and remind us of the things of God.

When situations look dreary and we look for help from everyone and everything but God, we are turning away from Christ. We are depriving the Holy Spirit of His ability to work in our lives. We are negating the knowledge that if God did it before, He can do it again. When this happens, we are returning to our old ways of living. We are walking in sin if we look to any source other than God to supply our needs.

God is looking for His children. He wants to show Himself strong and mighty on their behalf. He is looking for those who still reach out to Him in times of difficulty. He is looking for those who will stand in the midst of adversity and still proclaim, “He is a Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness, My God, that is who you are!”

Is that you?

Reflection: About twenty years ago, I was sitting in church when Dr. Frederick K. C. Price asked this question: “If I am the only one that God can depend on, is He in trouble because He can’t count on me?” Take some time to allow the Holy Spirit to show you how loyal you are to God. If He shows you areas in which to make a correction, be obedient and do it.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your unconditional love, mercy, and grace in my life. I am sorry for all those times when I sought others to be a resource for me and neglected to bring my needs to the source of all wisdom, provision, strength, and everything else I could ever need. Grow me in my faithfulness in seeking You so that You know my heart is loyal to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

About this Plan

Connect 21 - Prayer + Fasting - Reaching Results

During Connect 21, we aspire to gain clarity in hearing God's voice and making His wisdom our guiding light throughout the year. To achieve this, we commit to subduing the desires of our flesh through fasting, redirecting the time spent on meals to prayer, and glorifying God. This spiritual discipline empowers us to experience God's presence and to witness His transformative power in our lives.
