DAY 4 - EARS TO HEAR
When you draw near, you’re able to hear Gods voice.
In my experience, hearing from the Lord has come in seasons. There have been seasons where things seemed so clear. Through scripture, through a sermon, and even through a song it seemed that God was clearly speaking to me. Then, however, there have also been seasons where God’s voice felt indistinguishable amongst all of life’s other distractions.
Nearing the end of a “quieter” season, I began to prioritize seeking God and I felt my strength rise inside of me. Slowly but surely, I sought after the Lord with ever increasing intensity.I hadn’t realized how starved I was for the things of God! As I studied scripture and spent time with the Lord in prayer, I heard something deep within me, like a still small voice, say “grow here”. It may have been merely two words, but those two words instantly connected with my heart. I had been attending a church, but I took these two words as a call to grow in that church. I started going consistently and even began attending prayer meetings and bible studies.I did everything I could do to learn, to seek His face, and to grow deep roots in this body of believers.
Months later, after a season of seeking, I heard two new words from the Lord, “Get ready”. So, just like my first set of words from the Lord, I decided to dive headfirst into this call to action. Though it wasn’t perfectly clear at that moment, I would come to discover that God was orchestrating something beautiful in my life. And in this season, He was calling me draw as near as possible to Him so He could make ready my heart and mind.
The gentle voice of God is speaking to us always. He wants us to draw close and He will be a light unto our path. If you can clear out the distractions of life and diligently seek Him with all of your heart, He will speak and guide your steps.

Have you ever heard the still, small voice of God? Or have you ever felt God spoke something to you in your time with Him? Sometimes, we don’t sit quietly enough in our time with the Lord to even listen for Him. Today, in your quiet time, ask God to speak to you and then…listen. Sit quietly and just listen for the Lord. If you feel God lay something on your heart/mind, write it down.
Pray with me!
Father, thank you for wanting a relationship with me. You invite me to come before you, to pray and ask for the things I need, but you also invite me to hear from you.Today, Father, I turn off all the other distractions of my life and I’m listening for you.I pray you meet me here and tell me what I am to do and where I am to go.
