ADVENTure: The Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Life Changing, Not So Silent Nightনমুনা
You Have Arrived At Your Destination:
Merry Christmas! I pray today is filled with joy and time with you and your family. I’ll be brief, because I know today is a busy day. Our verses today show the Christmas story. All of it can be summarized in these two verses. After so many verses read together it just leads to this moment. The Christmas story isn’t hundreds of pages long but simply tells the good news: Jesus is born.
Sometimes Christmas can be disappointing. Sometimes you don’t get the fits you wanted, maybe your whole family cannot be together, or it just doesn’t feel like it should. Christmas can be disappointing but Jesus never will be. No matter what happens in our lives the thing that will never change is that Jesus was born. Jesus lived a life similar to you and me. He had parents, He probably fell, He probably told jokes. He cried when things got sad and He had friends. Nothing can ever change that Jesus lived on Earth. But not only did He live He also lived a perfect life. Jesus never sinned. He never lied, never disobeyed His parents, never cheated, never said a word He wasn’t supposed to. Yet people still hated Jesus and they framed Him for a crime He didn’t commit. But Jesus died for a reason. He died to pay for our sins. He died so we could be in perfect relationship with God. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead showing that He is greater and stronger than sin, death, and the enemy. Jesus then appeared to His closest friends and to so many others. Finally, He ascended to Heaven where He prepares a place for any and all who will go on the adventure of following Jesus.
Following Jesus is the biggest decision you could ever make. It’s full of hard times, waiting, and doing things the rest of the world doesn’t understand. But following Jesus is also the best decision you could ever make. It is filled with purpose in the hard times. It is filled with joy while you wake. It is filled with a community of believers even when things are at their worst they are there for you. And it is has Jesus, who was born on this day almost 2,000 years ago. Jesus the prince of peace. Jesus, God with us. Jesus, the one who loves you and is inviting you into the adventure.
