The Beauty God Sees in Youনমুনা
Mountainscapes and Heavensong
I am bursting with joy for you. You are my precious one, and yes, we may dance, and yes, we may sing and yell and tumble down the meadow there. We can do it again and again.
Did you see those butterflies? What do you think about the strength of their bodies and the delicacy of their wings? They fly, my love. Oh, how they fly. When I look at you, I think of the butterflies— how they sing through the way they move, how stunning their colors are, how they land with such care and precision upon a stem, a bud, a branch.
Fly with me, my darling one. Let us fly and dance and be beauty in a world that is blind to it. You see more than what can be seen. You hear more than what can be heard. You feel more than what can be touched. For you claim me in you—and with me, you begin to see heaven. With me, you can fly. With me, you can go where you could never go on your own. Your strength is not what can be seen. Your hope is not what can be measured.
You are yourself and not yourself. You are becoming what I have always seen. Come now, my darling one, farther under my wings. Know the feel of my heart against your skin. When we fly you will have courage to go into the unknown, for I will be with you wherever I ask you to go. There are places you get to go now, now that you see me and you hear me and you love me and you seek me with your whole heart.
It is deeper into the folds and out into the shadows, and where light does not touch the ground where I need my light in you to shine. So, yes, sing my love, for I give you songs to sing. Yes, dance my love, for I give you steps in sync with mine. Yes, reach out and wrap your arms around the people to whom I draw you close. You are light and love and hope—my light shining so brightly in you, my darling one.
Let us go. Higher still, and farther. Into the places you have yet to see and hear and feel.
I will smile on you. I do smile on you.
I will show you—there is so much more to come.
Exercise & Prayer
If you can, go for a walk in the fresh air. If you can’t, imagine it. Find a place where you can be free and uninhibited. Close your eyes, lift your arms out, tilt your head back. Or represent, with your body, whatever posture it is you feel symbolizes your whole self—your head, heart, and soul—being fully present to God. Imagine what it means for you to be “all in” with God—even if the future is unknown. Ask God to take control of your direction.
Jesus, remove my hesitation to be present with you. Let me want to experience your closeness; let me want to experience worshipping you without reservation. Let me come into your presence and receive your grace—your Spirit filling me with your joy, hope, and peace. Let me walk with you in this sacred space, no matter where I am or where I am going. Help me worship you in all situations, in all places. Let me fall more deeply in love with you. In your name I pray, Amen.
