When Holidays Hurtনমুনা
Hope for Today
I once heard a woman say that she could hardly wait for the holiday season to be over each year; it brought such sorrow to her soul. She even went on to say that she had a countdown to January 2. I couldn't relate because January 2 was the day my daughter died.
Do you see how everyone has their own battle?
Though it may seem that others celebrate the holiday season without fear or dread, with elated joy, we all wage war. It's just that some of us are not fighting grief. The enemies look like some of the ones David lists in Psalm 18.
In today's passage, David declares a great victory over his enemies. He pursued them and overtook them; he annihilated them. But he is careful to attribute his success to his creator. "You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me."
No matter your circumstances, there is hope and help for your needs today.
Jesus wasn’t born into ideal circumstances. Despite the stable which most of us would deem unsuitable accommodations, the light of the world made his grand entrance in the form of a baby. Human flesh held the Son of God, and the glory of the night could not be contained.
That glory is your help and hope for today. Don't lose heart.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16&17
Pray with Me
God, I need your help and hope for today—this hour and this minute. My life circumstances are smothering, and I need you, my oxygen. Breathe fresh glory into my life that I may be comforted by your goodness. Amen.
See you tomorrow!
