Ingredients for an Anointed Lifeনমুনা
Ingredient 3. Cane - Humility
Cane is a sweet-smelling reed that grows in marshes. The head of this reed fills up with oil and causes it to be hunched over, and it wasn’t until this reed was bent over that it was ready to be used.
That tells us if we want an anointed life, we have to be willing to bend low in humility.
Jesus demonstrated this same principle. On the night He was betrayed He got low to wash the feet of His disciples. Even though He was God, Philippians tells us, "He took on the very nature of a servant." The same hands that washed the disciples’ feet are the same hands that created the universe.
It's a reminder that the anointing is never about our name, fame, or popularity. It’s always about serving people.
Our culture, corporations, businesses, and governments are often built on a pyramid that says the greatest impact happens when we're at the top. However, Jesus says whoever wants to be the greatest needs to take the lowest place and serve.
Humility recognizes that serving is not beneath us, because when we are willing to get low that’s when we are ready to be used by God.
Questions for reflection.
Are you willing to do something significant without getting any credit for it? What does it cost you to be humble? What do you gain by humility?
