Flourish Devotional - Faith-Filled Meditations for Moms on Flourishing in Marriage

DAY 3 OF 5

God’s Purpose for Your Marriage

‘For this cause, I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named’ - Eph 3:14-15

Sometimes, we forget that our marriages are not just about us. God has a stake in it, too. If your marriage works, it brings glory to God. If it doesn’t, God also gets hurt. Every human born on this earth is named after our heavenly Father, so why do we often forget to involve him in the process?

God has a purpose for our marriages. We were never asked to do marriage on our own. God wants to help us and give us the Garden of Eden perfection in our homes.

There is a general purpose revealed in the scriptures, and there is a specific purpose that is tailor-made for your marriage. That is why you cannot judge the health of your marriage with another person’s. You have got to get your blueprint from God, meaning clear instructions on how to run each area of your home.

There are principles to making marriages work, and if we commit to our marriages, then we should be willing to put the principles to work - principles such as quality time together, fellowshipping together, a sense of responsibility to the home, commitment to the marriage, trust, forbearance, support, forgiveness, and faith in God amongst others.

When we put the principles to work, we activate God’s plan for marriages, which would be the foundation of a solid society that raises healthy, positive, and excellent leaders of tomorrow. May God’s vision for our marriages be fulfilled in Jesus' name. Amen

Love, Blessing Onwuamah
