Money Wisdom

DAY 1 OF 3

Day 1: Wisdom Is Calling:

Proverbs is written by King Solomon, whom in the Bible's days, was known to be the wisest man in the world. He and others wrote this book, and it is said to be God’s invitation to learn wisdom from previous generations regarding making decisions about finances, relationships, business, and much more.

Following each proverb means that you are not too proud to learn from others and it shows that you are willing to do anything to avoid making the same mistakes they did. For example, when I was young, my sister would always get in trouble for doing something she wasn’t supposed to do. Because I was the microscope behind most of her doings, I learned what not to do or made sure not to get caught (lol).

In Proverbs 1:20-33, it states that wisdom presents itself everywhere we go, it is present in every decision we make. Think of wisdom as your mother, your coach, your doctor, etc. Every time you pick up a piece of fried chicken, she gives you that mama's eye. You know the one I’m talking about. The “you know you are not supposed to be eating that” eye.

Wisdom is always speaking to us. She is telling us what to do and what not to do. She starts out loud, but her voice becomes softer and softer once we make bad decisions that are opposite of what you feel you should do.

Some of the practical things you may sense or feel is:

“Do you think it’s a good idea to buy another TV? What if your tire bursts and you need the money later?”

"Paying for the trip on a credit card before you have the money to pay it off may not be the best route.”

“Are you sure you want to cosign a car for your friend? What if it damages the friendship?”

Her voice gets softer when you have conditioned yourself to ignore her. And as a result, leaves you to take advice from your own voice or the voice of the enemy. This is a dangerous place to live because nothing good can come from these voices.

Proverbs 1:5 (AMP) says, "The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth]."

When you fear (show reverence) to the Lord as Lord over your life and keep your senses open, you will increase your learning, get wise counsel, develop skills you need to get ahead, and teach others how you did it.

So, my charge to you is this: do you know you need help with your finances but haven’t gotten any help? Are you too proud? Are you afraid to identify the issue and ask for wisdom on what you need to do to push past it? If you answer yes to any of these questions, it is time to seek wisdom because she is calling.
