Purify Your Mind Series (Part 1) by Joe Kirby

DAY 11 OF 31

No More Empty Promises

Job begins his speech of why his sufferings are not due to his sin by starting with a tremendous covenant. Somewhere Job made a whole-hearted decision that he would never gaze at a young woman (or virgin as described in other translations).

When the prophet Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, he made a serious set-in-stone decision not to be unclean.

So what about you, then?

Have you burned your boats and made a solemn decision that you will never sail across to Sin Island again?

We will never find victory until our whole heart is in this decision to be pure. You’ve made empty promises in the past before. But God does business only with those who mean business.

The stoat, or short-tailed weasel, has such a pure silky coat that for centuries it has been a symbol for purity. The stoat takes pride in its pure coat and will do anything it can to keep it clean. Hunters know their prey’s weakness and exploit it by smearing filthy grime around the entrance hole of the stoat’s burrow. As the hunting dogs chase down their prey, the stoat runs to its burrow for cover. However, when it sees the vile filth at the entrance to its home, rather than defiling its perfectly white coat, it turns around and faces the dogs instead. In other words, it would rather die than defile itself.

The day that you and I become that desperate for purity will be the day we find it.
