Sleep Psalms: 14 Nightly Moments of Mindfulness & Rest

DAY 1 OF 14

Tonight, or any night, we can find peace in knowing God's words of truth can and will sustain us. When we take delight in them, we will be blessed and refreshed. Take a moment now to clear your mind of the day and focus your thoughts on God by remembering who He is – the all-powerful One who knows you, sees you, and dearly loves you. He knows the weight of the burdens you are carrying, and He is ready to lift them and give you rest for your mind, body, and soul.

Bring today's worries and anxieties to Him and know that He cares for you and each challenge you face. Focus on His promises for you and His goodness. Keep your mind and heart still and silent to hear His voice. Ask Him to speak to you through His Word. Believe and do not doubt that His voice will lead you to a safe, quiet place where you can surrender to Him.

PSALM 1

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on His law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted b:y streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-
whatever they do prospers.
Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

ADORATION: Let yourself bask in God's presence; feel His peace wash over you. Imagine being firmly rooted in His love, grace, and truth and quenching your thirst in His springs of eternal life. Know God can sustain you where you are. Praise Him for always keeping His promises and for being your firm foundation.

CONFESSION: Reflect on your life and think of areas He has asked you to surrender to Him. Have you allowed anything or anyone to distract you from His way?

Breathe in God's forgiveness. As you exhale, let go of any guilt or shame. Receive the love He has for you, and find inner peace and rest for your mind, body, and soul.

THANKSGIVING: Praise God from whom all blessings flow – blessings of protection, grace, forgiveness, and the people He's brought onto your path and given opportunities to pray for and to minister His love.

SUPPLICATION: Father, I thank You for Your promise to watch over me tonight. Help me to surrender all the cares of this day to You so that I can be still and rest in Your care. I take delight in Your Word and meditate on it now so that my faith will grow, and I am able to trust in You for all things.
