Expansion: Your Kingdom Come

DAY 9 OF 11

What needs are demanding you expand?

Often the things that wreck us are also the areas of our lives where we have the most room for God to move in us. Daniel found himself in a society where praying became illegal. He looked at the people around him and knew that they needed God, needed to devote themselves to Him, and that He could do nothing but pray. But he didn’t just pray. He opened his window and prayed. Why? Because he wanted to make room for God to move in the lives of the people around him. He wanted them to hear his devotion and for God to do something miraculous to change a nation. And that’s just what happened.

ASK YOURSELF THIS: What needs do you see around you that stir your faith/fear?

Does it wreck you to see fatherless children? Why not offer to mentor one? Expand your faith. Does it wreck you to see politics veering away from Christian morality? Get involved and add your Christian voice to the conversation. Does it wreck you that mums can’t listen to the Sunday message? Volunteer to help at Highlands Kids.

ASK YOURSELF THIS: Do you have faith in God’s desire and ability to provide for the needs you see?

Daniel looked at the people around him and saw they needed God. They needed to see Him move in their world. He saw a need and publicly declared what he believed the answer was (Daniel 6:10-11). He fearlessly turned his face to God and opened his window while he prayed (illegally), so people could see where his strength came from. Do you show the world you have faith that they, too, can receive from God? Ask God to expand your courage and willingness to speak these truths to a dying world.

ASK YOURSELF THIS: Have I REALLY prayed about it?

Reflect on this quote from Oswald Chambers: “We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defence. We pray when there's nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all. Most of us would prefer to spend time doing something that will get immediate results. We don't want to wait for God to resolve matters in His good time because His idea of 'good time' is seldom in sync with ours.”
