Got Change?

DAY 16 OF 40

GOD AND FAMILY

God is a God of families. He set His eternal purpose in motion by commissioning a family in the Garden of Eden. He chose the family of Abraham to bring about a people and a nation for Himself. He chose the family of Cornelius to break open the gospel to the gentiles. He chose the family of Aquila to partner with the apostles in the progression of the gospel. Families matter to God. Hence, it is significant for every Christian to grow not just individually but make sure that we are building up every member in our family. Building strong families will lead to strong churches thereby impacting the watching world for Christ.

In a world that's diseased with busyness, many times we are guilty of not giving our time to our families. Parents are so caught up with their jobs that they don't have time to invest in their children. Children are so influenced by the culture of the world that they are failing to honor and respect their parents. Married couples are so living with ungodly priorities that they miss out on God's purposes for generations. This is leading to peace-less homes and even to breakdown of marriages and families thereby producing a fatherless generation.

The enemy knows this and he is all out to cause bitterness, hatred and discord within marriages and families. He intends to destroy the church by ruining families. It is a saddening fact that in our ignorance we have allowed many loopholes for the enemy to barge in and work out his schemes.

But God seeks to restore families and raise up godly generations. He desires for His Word to be the foundation of every family. Each of us have to realize our God-given roles and responsibilities and fulfill them.

Family Roles:

Husband - Committed to marriage for life, Love his wife, Work to provide and care for family, Head of the family

Wife - Lifetime commitment to marriage, Love her husband, Submit to the headship of husband, Work to care for the family and home

Parents - Love their children, Train the children to obey God's word, Punish and appreciate children when necessary

Children - Accept parents instruction, Honor and obey them. Care for elderly parents.

The CHALLENGE to Change:

What family habits must you develop in order to build a strong family? Put down some of the roles you have not been fulfilling to the best of your ability and ask for God's help.

About this Plan

Got Change?

We keep talking about change, how much this world needs it. True change is not brought about by the formation of new laws, rather by the transformation of each one’s life. You will find in this Plan a reminder for each day of an area we need to change in and grow, prompting us into Christ likeness and becoming the change this world needs to see and emulate. So…..Got Change?
