Wombs of Destiny

DAY 5 OF 5

Protected and Developed In Preparation For Mission

Psalm 139: 15-16 says, “My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them”. (NKJV).

Psalm 139:15-16 reveals that God uses the womb as a portal through which destinies are protected and developed in preparation for the Lord’s mission.

Several verses in the Bible reveal that God’s ordained destiny for people is established from the womb. The calling of both prophets, Isaiah and Jeremiah, was from the womb. “Listen to me, all you in distant lands! Pay attention, you who are far away! The LORD called me before my birth; from within the womb he called me by name.” Isaiah 49:1 (NIV) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV) Apostle Paul in Galatians 1:15-16 said of himself, “But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.” (NIV)

Samuel: Conceived by Hannah and Elkanah

Hannah's womb is an excellent example of a womb that protected and developed seed in preparation for service or mission (1 Samuel 1:9-18). She was described as childless and suffered silently from her predicament until she cried to the LORD at Shiloh. Hannah prayed for a son at a time the LORD needed a priest. It seems when Hannah was in Shiloh, she finally understood it was not just about her having a child, but the Lord had a need she could respond to, so she offered her womb for the mission. We see that her prayer was answered and that which she conceived was protected and developed in her womb for the LORD. Hannah, who was once barren, became a mother of four sons and two daughters in her lifetime. “And the Lord was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.” (1 Samuel 2:21) Are you a Hannah of our times? May El Rachum, the compassionate God, grant you what you have asked of him.

Let us pray:

Father God, we pour our hearts out like Hannah and say, Lord God Almighty, look on your servant’s misery and remember us, forget not your daughters and bless our wombs with children that we can give the glory and praise to your name. In Jesus' precious name, we have prayed. Amen!

We hope you were blessed and encouraged.
