1+1=3: Encouraging One Another
As believers, we are called to encourage and support one another, especially as we navigate the challenges of life. Hebrews 10:24-25 states, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
One practical way to support and encourage others is by being intentional about spending time with them. This doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Simply checking in with someone regularly, grabbing coffee or a meal together, or setting aside time to pray for one another can make a world of difference.
As we seek to support and encourage others, let us not forget the vital role of the Holy Spirit in this process. Remember, the “+” in our equation is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit empowers us to speak the words of life and truth, and He guides us in how best to support and encourage those around us. Let us invite the Holy Spirit to lead us as we seek to support and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ.
As we seek to follow the call from Hebrews 10:24-25, let us be intentional about supporting and encouraging others. Let us rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us and let us take action to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us. I’m sure we’d like other believers to be obedient and reach out to us when we need support or just someone to listen to us.
As we reflect on our passage, let us consider how we can practically support and encourage those around us. Here are two questions to consider:
- Who in your life could use a word of encouragement or support right now?
- What are some practical ways you can support and encourage those around you?
Challenge:
Commit to intentionally supporting and encouraging one person this week. It could be a family member, friend, coworker, or fellow church member. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in how best to support and encourage them and then take action. You never know the impact a simple word of encouragement or act of kindness can have on someone’s day.
