LIVETH!
Like most young people, I’ve had my fair share of addiction to porn. After every episode of indulgence, the feeling of guilt and condemnation was overwhelming; because by this time, I’d already set my hands to the plough and “turning back” was not an option. The solution was “turning back to Jesus.”
I realized that porn does not give two hoots if you’re a Pastor or like me, a Pastor’s kid. As a Pastor’s kid, I was not meant to be struggling with addictions but journeying with people who were addicted with such issues. No matter how much I prayed and fasted and how much Scripture I read, the temptation was always knocking at my door.
Desperate for deliverance, I cried out to the Lord and He answered me by opening my eyes to the word “LIVETH” in the Scriptures. The Biblical translation of the word “Liveth” in Greek translates as the very “life of Jesus” - the strength and the power He walked in, the breath that He breathed upon dead circumstances, causing it to come to life, and the Spirit filled resilience in His body and mind, determined not to give in to temptations as He was tempted in every way but without sin - challenged me. It took a shaking up for me to realize that the life of victory was not a lofty idea but a reality that is now LIVING, MOVING and having it’s BEING in me.
The more I began to meditate about the life of Jesus living and working in me, the more I began to experience victory over addictions. Today I can boldly declare that I have been free from this addiction for the last 10 years, all because CHRIST LIVETH in me.
Application: Find a quiet place. Close your eyes and meditate on this beautiful truth that “Christ LIVETH in me.” It may not be an addiction. Maybe you need the strength to pull through a tough phase. My friend, Christ is ALIVE and ACTIVE in you. The power to overcome is in you.
Quote: “Holiness, as taught in the Scriptures, is not based upon knowledge on our part. Rather, it is
based upon the resurrected Christ in-dwelling us and changing us into His likeness.” A.W. Tozer
LIVETH in Greek (STRONGS LEXICON G2198): ZAO - to live, breathe, Blessed, fresh, strong, to be efficient, to be full of vigor.
