Forgiveness is one of the primary hallmarks of Christianity. Because Jesus forgave us fully and completely for our sins, He requires that we forgive others. While we didn’t earn our salvation or have to work for it, there is an expectation from God that we extend grace to others as He extended it to us. When you have difficulty letting go of what someone did to you, take time to pray and remember His goodness toward you. Ask God for peace and help to extend grace toward others. It’s not about them deserving your forgiveness, just as we didn’t deserve or earn Jesus’ forgiveness.
