SERVING OTHERS
Jesus Christ set the perfect example of how to love and serve others. As priesthood holders, we must serve others. We can serve others as the Savior did in many ways, including administering priesthood ordinances, sharing the gospel with others, or performing simple, daily acts of kindness.
When it comes to the issue of serving others according to the Bible, “for you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13), it is natural for human beings to aspire to higher hierarchical positions. However, this should not be a reason for us to feel dissatisfied and frustrated with our position of service. Even as Paul wrote advice to the slaves in the Ephesian church, he made it clear to them that their masters were after the flesh. Although they were slaves on the earthly plane, in reality, they were free in spirit. This teaches us a valuable lesson, the lesson that for God the hierarchical position on the earthly plane is irrelevant.
When we serve, let us consider that whatever our hierarchical position, what matters to God is our fidelity to service. It is even evident that the hierarchical position is not always influenced, and that God can use even those who occupy the lowest hierarchical spheres for great things.
Your attitude should be the same as if you were serving Christ. When we serve others, regardless of our position or task, let's not let ourselves be discouraged by what surrounds us; let's do it with love. Let's look at the sky and see the satisfied face of Jesus since we are doing things for him.
As human beings, we are prone to desire the approval of others and seek their admiration. This is why we can often see ourselves advertising or communicating our good deeds to get noticed by others. When we serve others, we should not do it so they can see us, but regardless of whether others notice it or not, we do it sincerely and with love.
Serve willingly, without looking at men, but trusting that by doing it with love, we do it for God. That even if people are not fair to us, God sees our efforts.
Perhaps on this earth we do not see the fruits of our sincere service, perhaps we are not recognized, perhaps our acts of service are not appreciated, but God does recognize and appreciate them.
Let's not let discouragement invade us but remember that God will reward us.
