The Power That Strengthens You

DAY 1 OF 4

GOD IS YOUR STRENGTH

We live in a world full of signs of injustice, intolerance, and great difficulties. In some way, that scenario ends up reflected in our lives. Because of that, it is possible that you are intimidated by fear, think that there is no way out, and believe that it is easier to give up. The truth is that giving up will not solve problems, but when you have firm faith in God, He will surely give you the strength to overcome obstacles.

In the time of the prophet Habakkuk, there was a lot of suffering, oppression, and conflict everywhere, at a level where he felt devastated. Habakkuk cried out to God and asked 'When are you going to act'?Interestingly, God told Habakkuk not to worry about when circumstances would change. Instead, he told Habakkuk to strengthen his faith in God's promises because they would be fulfilled at the appointed time. God said: "This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed." (NLT)

In the same way, you may be dealing with situations you can't see changing, and it seems God's answer is taking time. In that case, don't allow circumstances to speak more loudly than God's promises within you. If you spend too much time thinking about difficulties, you will talk about them every time. This will produce negative feelings which in turn will make you feel weak, hopeless, and powerless.

On the other hand, if you think about God's promises, you will be filled with hope, peace, and joy. This will strengthen your faith. And faith opens the door for the power of God to manifest in your life.

Habakkuk didn't pretend that the problems didn't exist. But he decided to talk about the promises, give thanks, and praise God for being his Savior. This kept him strong and at peace inside. Habakkuk believed that his faith had been strengthened not as a result of favorable circumstances, but rather because of God's powerful Word within him.

Regardless of your situation, believe in God’s Word. While you are waiting for circumstances to change, you might thank and praise God because He is the source of everything you need. In this way, you'll be strengthened by the power of God to wait for the time when He will change the difficult circumstances.
