Anything Is Possible: How Nine Miracles of Jesus Reveal God's Love for Youনমুনা
Day 6: Mary Anoints Jesus
After Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave, he went to a dinner party in Bethany. We know from Mark 14 that this happened at Simon the leper’s house. What is interesting about this, is that you couldn’t eat with people who had leprosy, because you would get leprosy. So, it is safe to say that Simon didn’t have leprosy anymore...Jesus had healed him! As a result of this miracle, Simon’s gratitude is overflowing to the point that he threw a party.
At the party we see three responses to Jesus’s presence. We see Martha serving, Lazarus reclining with Jesus, and we see Mary worshipping. At some point in the evening Mary gets the most valuable things she owns and pours it out in worship on the feet of Jesus. As the perfume fills the room Judas questions this act of worship to try to prove a point and all Jesus does is point it back to Himself. He is the only One worthy of our worship.
All three of these responses are right and need to be evident in the life of the believer; serving, resting with Jesus, and worshipping.
1. What has the Lord stirred up in your heart? You should do whatever He tells you to do.
2. How can you humble yourself and rest with Jesus? Just be with Him.
3. What is most valuable to you? Pour it out in worship.
