A Kid's Guide To: Being Grateful for Jesus

DAY 2 OF 3

What I Don’t Deserve

So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help.
Hebrews 4:16 (CEV)

What keeps you from praying? Too busy? Don’t think God cares? Don’t feel close enough to Him to ask for things? Or do you just forget?

God wants a relationship with you. He wants to talk with you all the time. He wants to be with you in every part of your life. In fact, that’s why He created you! He is your father and you are His child.

And this is all possible because of his incredible grace for us—which means getting what we don’t deserve. Because of our sin or wrongdoing, we deserve to be separated from our perfect God. But He sent Jesus to pay that price through his death on the cross, making it possible for us to be close to God. It’s because of this great sacrifice that we can talk to God every day.

So go to God! Tell Him you are sorry for your temper, your selfishness, your stubbornness, and ask Him to forgive you. Then start talking to Him about all of it. He will help you with everything.

SPIRITUAL FITNESS TRAINING

Talking to God is so important that it is worth doing it daily. But remembering to pray takes practice, so below are some ideas to help you remember. Pick some things you will try this week!

  • Give thanks at mealtimes
  • Say “good morning” to Jesus when I wake up
  • Pray right away when I face problems
  • Set a phone alarm to pray at a certain time
  • Write a sticky note that says “Pray!” and stick it to my bathroom mirror
  • Ask a friend to pray with me

PRAY

Lord Jesus, thank you for forgiving my wrongdoing. Thank you for hearing my prayers.
