Fast Friends, Biblical Results Of Fasting And Prayer

DAY 6 OF 10

MOSES: FASTING, PRAYER AND TRANSFORMATION

The book of Exodus records the first fast mentioned in the Bible. Moses had met with the Lord on Mt. Sinai for forty days and nights and had supernaturally been given the ability to fast completely during this time. He had important work to do in recording the words of the Lord and bringing back the Ten Commandments. Scripture notes something remarkable about this experience.

When Moses returned to the camp to deliver the tablets to the Israelites, he was completely unaware of the fact that his face was radiant with what the Bible calls “shekinah” glory. Moses was transformed and radiated some of God’s own glory, something the Israelites had never witnessed before in Moses. When we spend time seeking the Lord through prayer and fasting, we are placing ourselves in a position to listen to Him, to be changed by Him, and to reflect Him to others.

How would those around you be impacted by this kind of transformation in your countenance? Pray that God will be seen in and through you the more you seek Him.

About this Plan

Fast Friends, Biblical Results Of Fasting And Prayer

We all know that there is power in prayer. Prayer is defined in several ways: it is how we praise and worship our glorious Lord and Savior; it is our most powerful weapon; our open door to communication with the living God; the vehicle to confess our sin; how to find God's will for our lives and one of the ways we can hear the voice of our precious Savior. It is not very often that we hear about fasting with prayer, either from the pulpit or in our conversations as a church community. Yet, the Bible has so much to say on this subject and so many wonderful accounts of deliverance, forgiveness, and miracles that happened when God's people did fast and pray together. This ten-day reading plan will focus on some of the Biblical accounts and show us the undeniable power and movement of God when His people humble themselves through fasting and prayer.
