Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 5নমুনা
The practice of sharing a Passover meal began during the time of Moses.
During the last of the ten plagues, an angel would pass through Egypt and bring death to the oldest son of every household. But to God’s people, a way was provided that made the angel “pass over” the house and leave the oldest son in peace. A spotless lamb was to be sacrificed, and its blood put over the doorposts of the family home. The family then shared the meat as a family.
Jesus is the perfect fulfilment of this practice - He is the Lamb that was slain to free us from our “Egypt”, meaning our bondage and slavery to sin. This meal - the “Last Supper” - is a picture of God’s New Covenant with us. This covenant is paid for in full by the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
