Daily Bible Reading – May 2023, God’s Saving Word: Faithনমুনা
May 29
Introduction
Peter continues his speech, speaking about Jesus’s death and resurrection and placing Jesus in the line of David as the Messiah. He invites the people to be baptized, and three thousand new believers are baptized in one day. The early church gathers each day for prayer and fellowship.
Scripture Reading
Acts 2:22-47
Today’s Key Verse: Acts 2:38
Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God’s gift, the Holy Spirit.”
Reflect
How did people react to Peter’s message (verse 37)? What did Peter tell them (verses 38, 39)? What is the promise he speaks of? What does that promise mean to you? How is life among the believers described in verses 43-47? How would you describe life among those who are members of your community of faith?
Pray
I thank you, Lord God, for the gift of your Holy Spirit and for your promise of forgiveness in Jesus’s name. Bind all believers in close fellowship to worship and serve you. Amen.
And now, join us in praising God that audio Bible listening groups are opening hearts to God’s Word throughout Africa. Sovereign God, when churches worldwide were forced to close their doors during the worst of the pandemic, audio Bibles became invaluable tools for building faith and reaching the lost. In Togo, a 16-year-old girl heard your Word for the first time, and her life changed forever. She has accepted Jesus as her Savior despite being persecuted by her family and others in her village. Thank you, Lord, for her life transformation and for the generous support of Bible-A-Month Partners that help audio Bible listening groups reach over 2 million people in more than 50 countries around the world every year with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Praise to you, Lord God, that your Word brings the light of your love to those who had been living in darkness. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Acts 8:4-25: The gospel is preached in Samaria.
