Kari Jobe: Heal Our Land

DAY 3 OF 4

Heal Our Land

New power, new wine
As divisions fall
One church, one bride
Jesus, Lord of all

With one voice we cry

I love this scripture because the imagery is so powerful:

“Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert … Because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen. This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise.” Isaiah 43:19-21

The title of the song is “Heal Our Land,” but the title’s meaning extends far beyond the physical representation of land. It’s about our hearts and lives that make up the culture and nations in our world.

And in Isaiah, God is describing the new work He wants to perform in us and through us. How He wants to bring forth water in deserts and make pathways where there are none.

What a powerful promise. The truth is, God is always seeking to bring forth His power in new ways. But in order for that to take place, we have to be willing to change our old thought patterns and lifestyles.

This is why Jesus says in Matthew 9:16-17…

“No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

God’s “new wine,” His way of thinking, won’t fit into our old expectations and ways of doing things.

So with one voice, as the church and bride of Christ, I pray that we would sing unto Him in worship, that His power might come in ways that will leave us astonished and amazed as we embrace the new work He wants to do!
