Facing The Unpredictability Of Lifeনমুনা
OUR GOD IS SOVEREIGN
In this world of unpredictability, God has promised us that He is sovereign. He later tells us the plan He has for us is not to harm us but to give us a hope and a future. I remember how this verse spoke to me as I was finishing college and going on to face the real world on my own. Years later when I look back at life, there were so many setbacks and so many changes of plans, unexpected twists, situations I wish did not happen. Through it all, God was sovereign.
God was faithful to be with me when I walked through the valley of shadow of death, when life seemed hopeless and it was a struggle to find a purpose to live. God guided me and opened new doors for me. He helped me overcome the negativity in life and find a purpose in him. When things are unpredictable, He is sovereign. There is nothing that surprises God.
There were two specific times I cried out to God. First was when my younger son was crying out in pain, when the doctors were doing what they needed to do during chemotherapy. I cried out saying, God, how do you expect me as a mother to see my son go through it? For which the Lord calmly replied saying ‘just as I was going through it when my son died on Calvary for you.' It made me realize that God has gone through every emotion I go through every day and He understands and comforts me.
Second was the last week of my younger son’s time on earth, when we really didn't know what was happening and didn’t know how to pray. We could feel God near us but His silence was deafening, but just as the news of my son’s death reached us, we could feel the warmth and love of God saying I knew it was coming but I could not tell you. His presence was real and He was there to lead us through.
Even today God's faithfulness is true in our life. However unpredictable the situation may be, God is sovereign and He knows about it. We just need to follow Him in absolute trust and faith that the plans He has for us is to prosper us and not to harm us.
