Daily Bible Reading – April 2023 God’s Saving Word: Hopeনমুনা
April 25
Introduction
Today’s reading begins with the author describing how to live honorably in the household. Christians are told to observe common cultural conventions of the time regarding marriage. The entire community of believers is given words of encouragement during times of suffering for doing what is right.
Scripture Reading
1 Peter 3:1-22
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Peter 3:18a
Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God.
Reflect
Most likely the suffering referred to in today’s reading pertains to some type of harassment the Christian community may have had to endure because they were looked upon with suspicion and hostility because of their faith practices. What challenges to their faith might people today face? In what ways can you prepare yourself to be ready “to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you”?
Pray
Holy God, nurture me each day with your Word so that I will always be ready to explain the hope that is in me and to proclaim the good news of your love and salvation. Teach me to do so with gentleness and respect so that my words bring glory to you. Bind all people together as one in the body of Christ. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
1 Peter 4:1-19: Christians are called upon to be good managers of God’s gifts.
